Plot
Heather Hamilton is not exactly what you would call lucky – when we first meet her she is running late for work with blisters the size of mount Everest on both feet. Although this may not seem all that bad, being one half of a wedding photographer business means she will be on her feet all day…and can she get a seat on the tube? Can she heck.

However, her luck is about to change when she receives a piece of Lucky Heather…she finds a flat mate, she goes for her dream job as a photographer for a well know publication and she starts dating her crush who just so happens to be her neighbour. But, is this all really her lucky break, or is she missing out on the things she needs by getting the things she wants?

Review – minor spoilers ahead
This book falls into the romantic comedy genre, and therefore you get exactly what you expect, fun characters with a predictable outcome. What, in my opinion, makes for a good romantic comedy book, is how much you enjoy the ride. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Heather is wonderful to read about and her take on the world around her is relatable. The action that takes place is, in the most part, not that catastrophic and is classed as minor irritation (all except one part which lasts all of around a chapter and is resolved before the epilogue.)

Writing style – Alexandra Potter writes really well, it is a really engaging book that is easy to read. The dialogue can be a bit silly at times but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

Plot – Judging by the synopsis, the book may seem a bit daft, but it really isn’t. The book leaves it open for you to decide whether the heather actually causes the events to change or whether it is just purely coincidence. The way in which everything works out is lovely, and I left this story feeling incredibly satisfied as all loose ends are tied up. The wishing does not really take over the narrative, and most wishes were thought by Heather rather than a deliberate attempt to see if the wishes are working. Also, the love interests that developed were well paced and I did not think that this was a case of insta love which can so often happen in these books. My only real issue with the plot was the last piece of drama that happened towards the end, which just seemed to be a way to make the story longer and there was no real point. However, other than that, it was a well written and thought out plot.

Characters – As I have already said, I loved reading about Heather as I felt that she was really relatable and her perspective was great to read about. She is really witty and generally quite a realistic person to read about. Also our two main male protagonists (James and Gabe) were both really nice guys, just totally different in terms of their personality. My only issue with James is some of his behaviour might start to ring warning bells (perhaps a bit controlling), however, when I got to the end of his character arc in this story it may not be as bad as first thought. But I don’t think this aspect of his personality was discussed nor did we see it develop into anything more (no stalker tendencies) so maybe I am making a bigger thing out of this than is needed. Some of the background characters were great as well, Lionel and eventually Rosemary were great. I wasn’t sure about Jess but she started to grow on me throughout the story. Can I also say how much I loved her boss and his side story

World building – Not really world building, but the characters and the way in which they interacted with the people and the world around them was great. I loved the RHPS references as well.

Conclusion – Love and luck make the perfect mix
